A global client policy in which the "EnableExchangeContactSync" parameter is set to False does not work in Lync Server 2010

Symptoms

Consider the follow scenario:
  • You deploy Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 in a Microsoft Lync Server 2010 environment.
  • Microsoft Exchange Web Service is configured in the environment.
  • You create a global client policy and set the EnableExchangeContactSync parameter in the policy to False.
  • A Lync 2010 user clicks on the Options button in Lync 2010 and then selects the Personal tab.
In this scenario, the Save my Lync contacts in my personal contacts folder on the Exchange server option is not dimmed.

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
